The Cardiff Big Weekend

July 30th - Aug 1st 2010

Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend is the ‘daddy’ of Cardiff Festival and is back with a vengeance. This year we’ve pulled out all the stops with home grown and top international artists playing on the FREE live music stage over 3 days.

On Friday, July 30, in conjunction with the Sŵn Festival, the cream of the latest crop of Welsh bands form an incredible line-up including headliners The Blackout.

Cardiff Festival favourite Chaka Demus and Pliers makes a welcome return to Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend on Saturday 31 July to headline an international line-up including Pee Wee Ellis and the Funky Assembly, The Raghu Dixit Project and The Congo All-Stars.

On Sunday 1 August, visitors can rock out with South Wales legends Feeder, who will bring the weekend to a magnificent close. The band will perform material from their new album Renegades, including their new single ‘Call Out’. And if that wasn’t enough, Ivor Novello award winning British indie-rock band, Athlete will take to the stage, along with Fenech Soler and many more.

A firework finale, will light the city sky each night of the Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend and you can also enjoy all the fun of the fair, with traditional fairground attractions available to entertain the young and the young at heart.

Information below is about 2009 we will give this years event information later in the year.

On Saturday 31st of October, Cardiff's Bute Park hosted one of the largest firework events in the UK - Sparks in the Park, with a spectacular display of pyrotechnics, a bonfire to behold, on-stage entertainment provided by Kam from the Red Dragon Breakfast Show, as well as fun fair rides, food stalls and many other family attractions. Organised by Cardiff Round Table, each year this event is attended by up to 18,000 people and the volunteers not only work hard to ensure that this is a both a fun and safe event – they also go on to donate the proceeds to worthy local, national and international causes. Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been donated in this event's history.

With over 29 years experience you can be sure to enjoy a safe, organised event under the supervision and guidance of Cardiff City Council. All we recommend is that you wrap up warm!
