Motorcycle Noise

Postby JonnyP » Sat Sep 05, 2009 2:09 pm

I am mildly suprised that there do not appear to be any posts/comments regarding the noise created by motorcycles on the adjoining fields (although I stand to be corrected). I appreciate that this will not affect all residents but for myself those who live on the west side of the estate, my enjoyment of simply sitting out in my garden on those rare sunny summer days is constanatly disrupted ny the noise of motorcyles, not to mention the damage that they cause to pathways across the fileds which were grass when I moved here.

Even now as I sit and type on a drizzly Saturday, they are out there again and the noise is present even through double glazing. The first noise today was at 08.00.

I have rung Police "101" number on several ocassions and whilst they acknowledge that a problem exists, any action they may have taken does nothing to stop it. I have often been tempted to go out there and confront (against police advice) but that may not prove wise as I would be uncertain of what sort of reaction I may receive.

Again, this may have been mentioned elsewhere, but if everyone who is at all affected posts then perhaps the accumlated information may be used to give us a quiter summer next year ?

Think I may have answered my initial observation on this one as I have just noted that there are only 17 registered users of the site.

yes
its a shame that we do not have more users , but hopefully in the future that will improve.

i live on the more eastern part of the estate and could hear them from there, obviously not as bad as it is for those closer.

We need to spread the word about the web site to get more users.

But the best thing is we are collating a electronic diary - by posting theses problems and by including whether 101 was rung we have evidence to fight theses problems as a group in the future.

PLEASE DO NOT GET INTO CONFRONTATION - WE CAN PUT THINGS RIGHT BY GATHERING EVIDENCE AND PUTTING IT TO PACT MEETINGS ETC

THE WAY TO WIN IS TO GET EVERYONE INVOLVED BY CALLING 101 AND SUBMITTING DETAILS ON HERE

Perhaps not as important as the difficulties beineg enountered on Whinberry Way but I just wanted to start off the year with observations regarding motorcycle noise/nuisance over the weekend.
I was out Saturday afternoon but there was at least 2 motorcycles racing across the fileds just north of the estate not long after 9 am - On Sunday, the noise didn't start until late morning but continued until well after 5pm - there were at least two bikes out there and they were coming very close to the rear of numbers 65 to 71 Marguerites Way where they turn around, revving their engines and racing away - It was bad enough for me, and I'm quite not so close, so how those households manage on a nice day when they want a quiet afternoon in the garden I have no idea.
I'm sure anyone who is affected will want it stopped and, whilst calls made last year to 101 made no difference, if enough of us complain, we surely won't be ignored? Also, we are likley to be canvassed over the next few weeks regarding the forthcoming elections so I for one will be making it known that this would be a future vote winner if whoever we elect can actually do something about it.

The motorbike issues are raised at residents meetings and PACT meetings, and at the PACT meetings we are always encouraged to ring 101 everytime, and have been assured they will be responded to. The problem is that even if people are caught and stopped one day it doesnt stop someone else arriving the next day. My garden backs onto the strip of land between Snowden Road and Westfield Park, where they turn around, it is very noisy when they are there but are never in that area for prolonged periods so it doesnt bother me. However, I will ring 101 to report it to help others who have it more persistently; also, because I think very often the scramblers are stolen!
