Minutes of Meeting
11January 2010
Chair: Penny Hill
Present: Helen Bradley (Secretary), Karen Timbrell (Secretary), Richard Noble (Treasurer) Sue Evans (Vice Treasurer) Steve Tarbet (Vice Chair), Colin (website administrator)
No Resident Association members
Guest: County Cllr Delme Bowen
Apologies: Menna Evans, Holly Timbrell (Young Persons Representatives), Sian Tarbet, (member)
1) Apologies - As above
A disappointing turn out, hindered by the weather.
2) Minutes from previous committee meeting
The minutes were agreed and approved.
3) Adoption of the estate
Delme Bowen gave an update on the adoption following the meeting on 15th December; a report was given to all present and a copy will be placed on the WFP website. Steady progress is being made and all parties still want a resolution. A bond of £44k has been identified to repair the pump with work due to start in January. Pumps to be checked and sealed before being signed off. The landownership and lagoon issues are also being resolved. (The lagoon needs no further work). The target is still springtime for the completion of adoption.
A letter as suggested in the last meeting was sent to the developers, thanking them for their support. Helen will also write to AM’s & MP’s looking for further support.
4) PACT
The last PACT meeting mainly address parking and pavement obstruction issues, which is the priority for this period. A ‘goody bag’ was issued to all attendees that contained stickers, UV pens and booklets on safety. The next PACT meeting will take place 28th January @ 7pm.
5) Community Council Activity/Issues
Penny requested support to oppose the Cardiff Local Development Plan. There is a letter to the planning inspectorate which can be downloaded from the internet, signed and returned to any Westfield Park Residents Association committee member. Anyone without access to this facility can request a hard copy from Penny, who also has a petition which can be signed by all residents, if you please.
6) Future activities/fundraising
This agenda item shall be moved to the next meeting when hopefully there will be more residents available to make suggestions and offer help. The idea of an ‘Adoption Party’ is still very much favoured by the committee and will be looking for suggestions, publicity and volunteers in the next meeting.
7) Any other business
Traffic to Website The popularity of the website is increasing, Colin shall update the homepage as soon as he can, and an attention grabbing poster will be done to mail drop the whole estate once again.
Helen suggested writing a letter to the Echo asking for some publicity. Steve agreed to take this on
It was also suggested that our website be linked to others e.g. PACT & SFCC and vice-versa.
Entrance sign to Westfield Park
This was discussed in brief as there is nothing to distinguish the area as Westfield park, and not everyone might know this is the ‘adopted name’. To be carried forward to next meeting.
Notice Board
Penny stated the planning permission for the notice board is going ahead. Once this is approved and the sign in place it will be the association’s responsibility to take care of it. All agreed that this would not be a problem, but requested could it have the anti-grafitti paint?
8) Date of next meeting
February 22nd @ 7.30 for committee members only
